Eric's "Summerlands"
.
Eric's bike started out as a $250 dollar Craigslist special, and from those humble beginnings he created a bike that's sure to turn heads wherever it goes. After getting the bike running with a little help from a can of ether directly into the intake ports, Eric proceeded to start cutting the frame. The only pieces of the stock frame used were the steering head and the rear wheel adjusters. The rest he fabricated himself eventually turning it into the beauty you see here.

In planning the build, Eric had some specific requirements. He wanted to be able to ride it standing up, he had to be able to carry a passenger, and he wanted it to look like it was built at least a decade earlier than when it was originally made. Mission accomplished!!!

The original carbs were in a million pieces in a box when he got the bike, so Eric spluged on the Cycle-X two carb setup for a DOHC, with the rest of the parts coming from ebay and a salvage yard just down the street from his house. It took three months and about $3500 to create this rolling work of art, but as you can see, it was well worth it.

The name Summerlands is the Wiccan name for purgatory...the place where your soul goes to rest and be reborn. Fitting, considering this bike was most definitely reborn!

If you'd like to submit your chop(s) to the Gallery get some nice pics together along with a paragraph or two on the bike(s) and specs then send it to Submissions (be sure the message is no bigger than 5 megabytes or split it into two messages). Use this page as an idea of what to cobble together for us. If the submission is useable and when time permits it will be added. You can also add your sled to the Member's Rides Forum anytime as well!
