The "Hoopty"
.
Bob McConnell loves to tinker and it took him two years to build this prostreet project aptly named “The Hoopty”. Bob started off with a non-running 1981 750C that he scored on Ebay for $450.00.
To fund his project he stripped down the bike and sold the stock parts he wasn’t going to use until all he had left was basically just the front half.
In order to achieve the look he desired, Bob knew he was going to need a fat tire on the back and his choice was a 280 Metzler mounted on a massive 10 ½ wide 80 spoke wheel. He split the stock swingarm in half and had his neighbor insert a spacer and weld the swingarm into place. Using a conduit bender, Bob created the rest of the tubing to complete the hardtail. In order to allow for the fat tire, the front sprocket needed to be offset by a whopping 3 inches. After much consideration, it was accomplished by cutting the side cover, using another sprocket, and extending the stock shaft of the gear.

The front of the stock frame was raked to 43 degrees to help complete that lean, low look of prostreet chopper. Using a little cardboard and some masking tape, Bob made the template for extending the stock gas tank. With a little help from Eric at Voodoo choppers, the tank was stretched giving him the look he wanted but still having that “Honda” look. Proving that stock parts can still be made to look awesome. With nothing more than a few hand tools and a dream, Bob created his vision in his garage at home and created one of the best looking Honda DOHCs around. This is one “Deuce” that is definitely wild!!!

If you'd like to submit your chop(s) to the Gallery get some nice pics together along with a paragraph or two on the bike(s) and specs then send it to Submissions (be sure the message is no bigger than 5 megabytes or split it into two messages). Use this page as an idea of what to cobble together for us. If the submission is useable and when time permits it will be added. You can also add your sled to the Member's Rides Forum anytime as well!
